Asset Management for automated asset tracking

Asset Management for automated asset tracking

Tracking assets—whether cloud servers, code repositories, or physical devices—can quickly become chaotic. Relying on Excel sheets or disconnected tools leads to missed details, errors, and compliance risks. Without a real-time, centralized view, meeting standards like SOC 2 and ISO 27001 becomes a challenge, leaving critical assets unmonitored and audits vulnerable.

Scrut offers a centralized solution by bringing all your assets into a single, automated system. With Scrut, you can see what you have, who owns it, and where it lives—all in real-time. This makes your asset list complete and ready for any audit without the extra hassle.

How it works:

  • Automatic discovery: Scrut quickly gathers asset data from integrated cloud platforms like AWS, with options for manual or bulk additions.
  • Centralized registry: Provides real-time visibility and maintains an audit-ready asset list.
  • Real-time monitoring: Tags and tracks critical assets to ensure continuous visibility into their compliance posture.
  • Effortless owner assignment: Automatically assigns or manually updates asset ownership to prevent orphaned assets.
  • Organized categorization: Groups assets into predefined categories and allows custom tagging for easy filtering and navigation.
  • Simple management: Enables quick editing, locking, or deletion of assets to keep the registry up to date.

Enhanced risk factor and score creation process

Risk setting

Creating risk factors and scores used to be a long, all-in-one form—requiring users to define multiple elements at once, leading to confusion.

Now, we’ve restructured the process into a clear two-step workflow, making it easier to define, customize, and control risk parameters with precision.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Structured factor and score creation: Risk factors and scores are now set up in two distinct steps instead of a single, overwhelming form, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Better range customization and visualization: Factor ranges can be defined in any order, colors can be assigned from predefined risk categories (low, moderate, high, critical), and configurations can be reviewed before finalizing.
  • More control over risk scoring: Risk scores can be set up with field-based criteria, custom risk formulas, and rounding options, ensuring greater accuracy and consistency in risk calculations.
  • Built-in safeguards for data integrity: Once a factor range is saved, its values remain locked to maintain accuracy. Additionally, the system prevents incomplete configurations by ensuring at least one range is defined before proceeding.

Bulk promote employees to users

Bulk promote employees to users

Managing user roles within an organization can be time-consuming, especially when administrators need to update multiple employees at once, which can be a significant bottleneck for growing teams.

To streamline role management, we’re introducing the Bulk Promotion feature in the Employee module. This enhancement enables admins to efficiently assign new roles to multiple users in just a few clicks, saving time and effort. With this update, admins can now:

  • Bulk assign new roles to employees directly from the Employee module.
  • Assign or update roles—such as Admin, Contributor, or Auditor—with just a few clicks.
  • Easily modify roles if responsibilities change without repetitive manual input.

New integrations

  • UI/UX enhancements: Navigate integrations within Scrut effortlessly with a redesigned, category-based layout, making it easier to view functionality, required permissions, and setup details at a glance.
  • Streamlined leave tracking with HRIS: Scrut now syncs with supported HRIS platforms, displaying real-time leave statuses and reducing manual updates.
  • Improved Slack notifications: Stay on top of critical tasks and risks with enhanced Slack notifications and digest summaries, delivering personalized reminders, actionable insights, and direct links for improved collaboration.
  • Azure AD AUs: Gain clearer visibility and streamlined control over Azure AD users by automatically displaying their assigned Administrative Units, making user management more organized and efficient.

New frameworks

Staying on top of new privacy and security rules can be tricky. To help make compliance simpler, Scrut now offers two new frameworks that give you clear, ready-to-use controls for modern requirements.

  • Law 25 Framework: Quebec’s updated privacy law boosts personal data protection with stronger transparency, accountability, and consent measures, making it easier to build trust with your customers.
  • NIST 800-53 (Low & Privacy Baseline): Tailored for systems needing low-impact security controls or extra privacy safeguards, choose the Low Baseline for efficient protection or the Privacy Baseline to focus on safeguarding sensitive data.
